“Golden Teardrops of An Evolution” Artwork
Illustration
I was approached to create an illustrated cover art for a poem about the oppressive treatment of indigenous people, titled "Golden Teardrops of an Evolution".
I began by crafting a potent image featuring the face of an Indigenous woman, aiming to convey her profound pain and vulnerability. To strengthen the connection to her Native American heritage, I adorned her face with meaningful symbols, specifically "Warrior" and "Spiritual Openness." Certain parts of the illustration intentionally bore a messy appearance, mirroring the tumultuous nature of systematic oppression and the weighty subjects explored in the poem. The layout ensured the woman's face remained the central focus, carefully balancing the raw emotions with the thematic elements.
